HubSpot Introduces Column-Level Filtering in CRM Tables

Written by François Friderich | May 1, 2026

Still opening filter menus, searching through property lists, and deciding whether to use quick filters or advanced filtering just to narrow down a CRM view?

HubSpot recently introduced a small but surprisingly impactful usability improvement inside CRM index pages: column-level filtering.

The feature allows users to filter records directly from CRM table column headers, creating a much more spreadsheet-like experience when working with contacts, companies, deals, tickets, or custom objects.

At first glance, this may look like a simple UI enhancement.

Operationally, though, it removes a considerable amount of repetitive friction for teams spending large parts of their day inside CRM tables.

What Changed in the CRM Experience

Previously, filtering records often required:

  • opening the filter sidebar,
  • manually searching for properties,
  • selecting operators,
  • and configuring conditions before returning to the table.

With column-level filtering, users can now:

  1. Open the context menu directly from a column header
  2. Select “Filter by this column”
  3. Apply the filter immediately within the current table context

The interaction feels much closer to spreadsheet tools that many operational teams already use daily.

Why This Matters for CRM Productivity

CRM usability is often shaped by small repetitive actions.

Even a few additional clicks repeated hundreds of times per day can create unnecessary cognitive load and slow down workflows.

This update helps teams:

  • Narrow down pipelines faster
  • Clean up lists with fewer interruptions
  • Find relevant records more naturally
  • Stay focused on table analysis instead of filter configuration
  • Reduce friction during operational work

For SalesOps, RevOps, support, and customer success teams working heavily in CRM index pages, these small interaction improvements compound quickly over time.

A More Spreadsheet-Like CRM Experience

One interesting aspect of this update is the direction it reflects.

Many CRM users increasingly expect:

  • faster inline actions,
  • contextual filtering,
  • and lower setup friction.

The new filtering approach makes HubSpot tables behave more like operational workspaces rather than static database views.

That may sound minor, but it changes how fluid the platform feels during day-to-day execution.

A Few Important Limitations

Column-level filtering is designed primarily for speed and convenience.

For more advanced filtering logic, teams will still rely on:

  • advanced filters,
  • multi-condition logic,
  • saved views,
  • and complex segmentation setups.

So this feature does not replace advanced filtering capabilities. Instead, it complements them by making simple filtering dramatically faster.

Availability

Column-level filtering is now generally available across all HubSpot products and pricing tiers.
